Why Different Materials Are Added to Make Alloys of 8mm Wedding Band?

Gold has always been the preferable material when it comes to wedding bands and engagement rings. It is undoubtedly put into various shapes, shades, and different styles. However, it is important to know about the material before purchasing your wedding bands.

Your wedding band is a piece of jewelry that you'll wear throughout your life, so one must know about the purity of the material that he or she is actually buying. The purity of gold is measured in “karats”, it is, in fact, the amount of gold present in a piece of jewelry. For every karat of gold, there is 4.167% of gold present in the item.

Pure gold is very soft & can't be solely used for the purpose of jewelry making, that's why different materials are added to make an alloy for 8mm wedding band.

10 karat gold

This is an alloy that contains 10 parts of gold and 14 parts of other materials like copper or silver. It has a lesser amount of gold, but it is a good choice if you want a durable item at an affordable cost.

14 karat gold

The jewelry items that are made up of 14 karat gold have 14 parts of gold and 10 parts of non-gold metals. It is a good choice if you want to get an item at an average price range.

18 karat gold

This is the second purest form of gold that doesn't compromise on its durability. It consists of 18 parts of gold/6 parts of other metals like nickel. It is an ideal choice for making the classy and simple gold band.

24 karat gold

It is the purest formed of gold that is used to make gold wedding bands. However, it is not a good choice if you are looking for something long-lasting, as it is usually delicate. They are more likely to scratch and bend easily. However, it will still deliver the glow of pure gold in your wedding bands.
